Prayer in
Isaiah 59:19
So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.
After traveling to
When I first arrived I knew what areas of the city that I needed to pray over and how important the timing was of my visit.
On the second day of the rally, my wife Joy and one other pastor, pastor Kuo and I visited Chief Lee’s office again. By this time, the tension upon the police force was extremely high due to the responsibility and the uncertainty of situation. It was estimated that there were over 300,000 people in the crowd. 2,000 police officers were on duty at all times to control the crowds from getting violent. Chief Lee took us to the place where barbed wires divided the street; one side of the barbed wires was the crowd and the other side was the armed riot police force. She pointed to us her leader officers among the policemen and asked us to pray for them. Behind the barbed wire, we couldn’t count how many policemen were prayed for, and many of them confessed and received Jesus into their lives. According to a Christian newspaper in that week, over 100 policemen were “saved”. Chief Lee told me later that there were 80 police officers received Christ and were ready to be baptized.
For the whole 19 days, the people gathered, leaders spoke on the stage and even they even had conferences making strategic decisions, but other than the messages delivered through various media, there was no corporate riot or violence. Most amazingly, on the 19th day when the crowd (including the stages and TV high rises) was supposed to be moved out and cleared off the street, by 9:30 that night, every thing was cleared and nothing remained on those streets.
These were truly answers to prayers because other areas of the city where there were gatherings were not as peaceful.
At the same time, God’s people are raising a different banner. They won't be taking a political stand; they will be taking God's stand. Chief Lee and a few elders from different local churches have been connecting churches to pray for the two zones within
Spiritual Principals:
1. The door was open for me to pray in a strategic place because I have built the relationships (sowing of the seed) long ago.
2. I first committed and ministered to the person (the Chief) then to the situation around the person, then to the bigger pictures that has involved with them. Ministry is built on the foundation of relationships.
3. Praying for souls is the ultimate purpose of all intercessory prayers.
4. Spiritual warfare is not about encountering the enemy but about knowing and abiding in the Glorious nature of God Himself.
5. Circumstances are almost always bigger than what we can handle. Our job is to know “why am I here?” What is the role God is calling me for and the piece He is putting in my hand? And I will do just that. Be radically faithful, but not be overwhelmed, not be ambitious, not be over burnt.
6. Anchor in Him with full confidence while in the Spiritual battle.
7. When seeing opportunities given by God, move in without hesitation even if it means a high personal price.
Prayer Points:
1. Pray for Chief Lee to have direction when leading the officers to be baptized.
2. Pray for continued discipleship of the officers and a strong follow up with each one.
3. Pray for the heart of God’s people, that they will truly be united through the crisis and that the new ministerial force may have discernment of God’s direction, plus the faith to move forward, a heart to work as one, and persistence to bear the fruit.
4. Pray that God would continue to soften the soil for the outreach of souls and prepare churches to be able to nurture and disciple when the number of the saved increases.
